Azul and Trip announce their merger
Brazilian airlines Azul and Trip have just announced their merger. The resulting company will only use the name Azul and will obtain a share of the Brazilian domestic market of 15% (Azul had 9,8% and Trip 4,3%). The Brazilian domestic aviation market continues its concentration in a few hands, no doubt bad news for the consumer.
The new airline will have a fleet of 11 aircraft. At a question for Trip airlines we sent a question to the airline, through multiple internet channels. We wanted to know what did a foreign traveller had to do to be able to purchase tickets from the airline. We never got a reply to our questioning and from then on decided not to mention the airline here at D AIRFARE.
We hope the management of the new airline will realize its potential to attract foreign consumers. The airline flies to a huge range of tourist destinations.
