cheaper fares to the US
It would seem that although the airlines are not making much of it, airfares to the States are falling across the board. This is a result of the end of tariff limitations approved by the Brazilian government recently. We had a look at the GDS Sabre and found out the following (prices do not include taxes).
São Paulo/Miami
Still costing from 566 USD with American, Tam, United, Delta, Continental and Copa for flights in May 2009. For December 2009 and January 2010 (Christmas and the New Year), fares climb to 611 USD, with the exception of Copa that keeps the same price.
São Paulo/New York
For flights in May, fares start at 629 USD. For July 2009, December 2009 and January 2010, fares from 679 USD flying with the US airlines and TAM. Copa has fares from 629 USD.
São Paulo/Los Angeles
Fares from 718 USD for May 2009. For July 2009, fares fro m718 USD with the US airlines and Copa. For December 2009 and January 2010, 718 USD fares are restricted to Lan and Copa. With the US airlines, fares from 775 USD. Korean (the only company with a direct flight) is not offering promotional fares yet.
São Paulo/Orlando
For May 2009 fares from 566 USD with Copa and 594 USD with the US airlines. For July 2009, December 2009 and January 2010, fares from 642 USD with the US Airlines. With Copa fares remain at 566 USD.
High season fares are quite interesting, in particular to Miami, Orlando and New York. Will they fall even more? They might, but who can tell the future?
