The Brazilian Civil Aviation Authority, ANAC, summoned GOL airline to explain the numerous delays and ensuing chaos experienced by its flights during the Christmas holiday break. Gol says it will follow ANAC’s recommendations, but excused itself for the chaos using the always convenient rain and a computer failure as an excuse.

Among the measures proposed by ANAC, Gol will have to unify its check-in counters with those of Varig before 18 January. Planes won’t be allowed to stay for so long at the airports. During the recent chaos, Gol’s aircraft spent a long time landed while waiting for connecting flights from the north of the country – something Tam did in the past too.
