Iberia cancels its Madrid to Fortaleza and Recife flight
10 months after its launch (the new Iberia flight to the Northeast begins on 1 February), Iberia’s Madrid to Fortaleza and Recife flight comes to an end. On 2 November 2011, to be exact.
The reasons alleged by Iberia for the end of the route are high fuel costs and the world crisis.
One wonders what type of market research is carried out before launching a new route. For the consumer who plans their trips ahead – and purchases its tickets well in advance too, decisions like the one taken by Iberia introduce an element of mistrust towards the company. Will Iberia’s Barcelona to São Paulo flight survive long enough?
