Tam selling tickets for its new Mexico City flight, from USD830
Tam is selling tickets for its newest international destination, Mexico City. There are fares from USD830 (tariff QYGYTMX, taxes not included). They can be purchased through a travel agent, as the airline hasn’t made those fares available through its website yet. The return flight must be completed within 30 days. Penalty for cancellation is USD200 and for alterations USD150.
There will be daily direct flights flown on a A330. Departure from São Paulo at 9:25 and arrival in Mexico City at 15:00. Take off from the Mexican capital at 15:25 and landing in São Paulo at 06:55. The initial date for the flight is 30 October 2011.
The competicion is reacting. Avianca offers a flight to Mexico City with a stopover in Bogota. It has fares from USD670 (tariff ZAAOOTFB, taxes excluded). For purchases no later than 31 August to fly between 1 September and 30 November 2011 (with the exception of the periods between 7 and 10 October and 15 to 18 October). Minimum stay of 3 days and maximum of 60 days. One free stopover (you pay only for the airport tax). Cancellation is not allowed and the penalty for alteration is USD115.
It remains to be seen whether Tam will offer connecting flights to other Mexican destination, specially Cancun. With the end of Mexicana operations, Aeromexico rules alone again in the domestic flight market in Mexico.
